On our beginner’s course, you will learn:
- How to hold your hook and yarn to achieve an even tension.
- How to use basic stitches and techniques.
- How to read a crochet pattern and chart.

Beginner’s Introduction to crochet – crochet a V-Stitch Sampler

V-stitch is a great starter for beginners as the technique uses just 2 stitches. Using v-stitch means that your project will grow really quickly, and you’ll be able to make blankets, throws, scarves etc. And the great thing is, it’ll give you oodles of confidence to carry on to try other things! You’ll be working from a pattern and/or chart, with lots of guidance, so that you can go away after your lesson, and carry on with your project at home.
You will learn how to:
- Hold your hook and yarn
- Use chain stitch and trebles
- Join in new colours
- Read a pattern and chart
- Finish off your work
- Work in rows
Beginner’s Introduction to Granny Squares – Crochet a Pop Wheel Square

At these beginner lessons, you’ll learn how to make pop wheel granny squares. These use a few basic stitches and techniques, and produce really lovely results. With your granny squares, you will be able to make blankets and throws, scarves, bags, cushion covers and more. As above, you’ll be working from a pattern and/or chart, with lots of guidance, so that you can go away after your lesson, and carry on with projects at home.

Beginner’s Introduction to Amigurumi – Crochet a Cotton Jellyish

Amigurumi is a Japanese term, and means small, knitted or crocheted stuffed creatures. They’re incredibly popular, and we’ll start you off, with our cotton jellyfish, which will teach you a few of the techniques involved, although as it’s isn’t stuffed, it isn’t strictly amigurumi (but who’s counting?). This uses a lot of stitches and techniques, that really will give you a great start.

- Finish off your work
- Work in rounds and rows

The above lessons have been listed in order of difficulty, with v-stitch being the most simple.
Whichever course you choose, your beginner’s crochet workshop includes all of the materials and equipment, which are yours to keep. Home made refreshments are provided throughout the day, all dietary requirements catered for.
