Welcome to The Little Songbird Knitting Co
I’m Shiona, hello and welcome! I run The Little Songbird Knitting Co, from my little cottage in a sleepy Kentish village just outside the beautiful medieval market town of Faversham. It’s just me, my son, and two unruly dogs. We all help, in our own little way. No 1 son makes the coffee, no’s 1 and 2 dogs get in the way a lot, and I do everything else.
I began knitting at, about… ooh… 4? And with the help of my mum, and a Ladybird book on knitting, by the age of 7 I had knitted a little egg cosy and that elusive Brownie badge was mine. And there was no going back, my fate was sealed… teddy bears had cardies, dolls had chic jumpers, and as the years went on, armed with a sheet of graph paper, and a lot of imagination (and a lot of trial and error), I ended up here, running The Little Songbird Knitting Co!
I design knitting kits and patterns for all ability knitters. You can buy one of my “lessons in a bag” to get you started, or something already hand knitted, by me. There are patterns you can download and get knitting straight away, or you can join one of our workshops, to either learn to knit or crochet, or to learn a new skill or technique. The lessons are available either privately, or through Kent Adult Education, at their Ashford and Canterbury centres.
If you like the personal touch, you can find me at Hut No.13 at Harbour Market, Whitstable which is open most days in the summer, and every weekend in the winter. If you want to know where I am and when, find The Little Songbird Knitting Co page on Facebook by clicking here.
Thank you for visiting! And happy browsing!
